Haven also offers design or construction services exclusive of the other, and coordinates with contractors in a variety of fields. Every project is truly unique to suit your style, needs, and space. You won’t find cookie-cutter plans here. Most design/build jobs follow the same general process.

Joel Port is the founder and owner of Haven Garden Design & Construction, LLC. With a degree in landscape architecture and over twenty years of professional design experience, he's an expert at creating beautiful, unique and functional outdoor spaces. Haven Garden Design transformed landscapes in the Portland, Oregon area from 2013 to 2021. The business relocated to Massachusetts in the fall of 2021 and now serves the Boston metro west and surrounding areas. Joel Port is a qualified professional member of the New England chapter of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers.
Initial Site Visit and Discussion
We'll meet on location so I can better understand your project goals and style, as well as budget and existing site conditions.
Proposal for Design Services
I’ll provide a written proposal for design based on our conversation. Once approved, I'll create one or two schematic designs, depending on the scope of the project.
Schematic Review
We’ll sit down to review the schematic design(s), discuss pros and cons, likes and dislikes to ensure I’m headed in the right direction to meet your needs.
Final Landscape Plan
After the schematic is revised, you'll receive a final landscape plan showing the layout of all garden areas and specifying building materials and arrangement of all plant materials.
Cost Estimate for Construction Services
I’ll provide you with a detailed construction estimate.
Construction
Pending approval, construction will begin. I coordinate with experienced subcontractors as necessary (e.g., irrigation, concrete).
